Joseph McIntire
Joseph McIntire is a research physicist turned poet who found the beauty of storytelling. Joseph is an adventurer and climber doing high altitude mountain rescue in the Sierra Nevada. His adventures have taken him on four treks in the Himalayas during his late seventies and early eighties. He has traveled extensively in the outbacks of Alaska. Centered in Kotzebue (Kobuc region) above the Arctic Circle, he taught in remote villages for the University of Alaska. Retirement has provided him more time to write. Joseph has previously written Tummy Talks edited by Madeleine Sigman-Grant, University of Nevada, Las Vegas Cooperative Extension, Special Publication SP-03-06 (A book to help parents combat early childhood obesity). His latest book, Mr. Umgawa’s Pumpkin Tree, is about a treasured story of tradition published by Waterside Productions. Currently, in the works is the sequel to Mr. Umgawa’s Pumpkin Tree called Big Black Wolf’s Independence Day Party and a poetry book called The Golden Whale.
