Peter Denning is a Distinguished Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He chairs the Computer Science Department and directs the Cebrowski Institute, an interdisciplinary research center for innovation and information superiority. He held previous faculty positions at Princeton, Purdue, and George Mason, and he was founding director for the computer science research institute RIACS at NASA Ames.

In his early career he was a pioneer in virtual memory and in the development of principles for operating systems. He made substantial contributions to performance evaluation when that industry was getting launched. He co-founded CSNET, the computer science network of NSF, and shared in the 2009 Internet Society Postel Award for the achievement; CSNET was the first community network bridge from the original ARPANET to the modern Internet.

He has been an active leader since 1967 in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the leading professional society for computing. He was president in 1980-82. He was also vice president, chair of three boards, and editor of the monthly magazine. He led the ACM Digital Library project that made ACM the first professional society with its entire literature on-line.

He has been a prolific author, publishing over 340 articles in computer science and 8 books. His books include The Invisible Future (McGraw, 2001) and Beyond Calculation (Copernicus, 1997).

He holds twenty-six awards, including three honorary degrees, three professional society fellowships, six technical achievements, two best-papers, three distinguished service awards, a hall of fame award, and several outstanding educator awards.

She has served a wide range of non-profit organizations, and her experience also includes journalism, corporate government liaison and public relations. Since 1991 she has run The Fund for Arts and Culture, an all-volunteer organization which she founded in 1991 to help develop the potential of arts and cultural organizations in countries without access to best arts management practices, an experience that included recruiting over 100 senior managers in the arts to serve in over twenty countries. For almost twenty years she was responsible for planning and executing all the development programs of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, America’s National Cultural Center, a responsibility that ultimately included its partner The National Symphony Orchestra. Tony Bove has written more than two dozen books on computing, desktop publishing, and multimedia, and recently developed and published an iPhone application (Tony’s Tips for iPhone Users Manual). Tony founded Desktop Publishing/Publish! magazine and the Bove & Rhodes Inside Report on New Media newsletter, and wrote the weekly Macintosh column for Computer Currents for over a decade, as well as articles for NeXTWORLD, the Chicago Tribune, NewMedia, Macintosh Today, Prodigy Online, and the Whole Earth Software Catalog.
